Easy to operate, easy to get going, fast and fun! : We bought Traxxas Nitro Revo 3.3 so that when our grandchildren come over we can go outside with them and have some fun. They love it but are still too young to operate it. We love it too, it is fast and fun. Best part though is that it was very easy to get it going. We had some r/c gas cars many years ago and they were a lot of work to get going and to maintain. This Traxxas Revo was as painless as it could be. Get the right fuel, charge the batteries and use the built-in electric starter to fire it up. Break it in per the instructions and then once broken in, it screams. Very fast, easy to operate and runs quite awhile on a tank of fuel. Overall we cannot find anything wrong or anything we disliked.

1/10 Desert Truck RTR Review

Cool truck for mid-level experienced drivers : The Losi Desert truck is a racer’s, and basher’s dream! It handles extremely well through the entire powerband. The acceleration is linear, with no dead spots, or spikes in it’s output. The tires are a good compromise for street and dirt, but it really shines on a dirt track, or backlot. Blasting full-throttle through bumps doesn’t upset it, no matter the speed.
The Losi Desert Truck comes with a brushed motor, so as expected, the top speed is about 35 MPH. That’s with a 7-cell NiMh battery or a 5000 Mah 20C 7.4V LiPo battery aboard. Set-up and programming is easy, with three profiles to choose from-Forward/reverse, Forward only, and Beginner Mode. It’s easy to go from one program to another, so changes can be made in a snap. Beginner Mode is important for those who are new to RC, as the throttle profile is approx. 50% of the other two modes.
The styling is boxish, in Desert Truck fashion, with the rear half of the truck made up like a rollcage. There is a really cool feature on the Desert Truck that you wouldn’t find on anything but a custom made rig: Lights! There are two white LED’s up front as headlights, and two red LED’s as taillights! they are always on, when the truck is being run, with no cut-off. It’s O.K., since they don’t draw much power to begin with. It’s great for driving at dusk, because the lights do have enough wattage to light up quite a distance ahead of the truck. Full night driving is not advised, however, as the lights aren’t THAT strong.
The Losi Desert Truck has one big disadvantage. It uses SAE hardware, instead of Metric, which means you have to use SAE wrenches to fix it, or modify it. Bummer. The wheels have their hexes integrated into the wheel, which makes wheel changes impossible without some modification. The Motor wires aren’t protected by a shield of any kind, which makes it susceptible to damage. This is the first place a new owner should address, before running the truck. Even tape wrapped around the motor can on the input/output wire side is better than nothing. Damage in this area is expensive, and Losi could have done a better job in this area.
The truck jumps and lands well, and you really have to work at it, to land badly after a jump, no matter how big. It has great durability, as crash after crash, just put it back on it’s wheels, and keep going! Nothing’s broken yet, but the body is pretty scuffed up now. So far, there are no aftermarket parts for the Losi Desert Truck, but give it a few months. This truck is a great little RC truck to bash AND race with! At the prices it’s commanding, here, on Amazon, it’s a real bargain!!

Awesome truck, you will love it. : Traxxas Nitro T-Maxx 3.3 was my first Nitro truck. I’ve had Nitro cars before but wanted to step it up in the extremeness. Traxxas Nitro T-Maxx 3.3 truck is built pretty well. The break-in instructions are clear and easy to understand. I spent 2 hours doing it the right way and therefore am experiencing no problems whatsoever with the truck. Mine has the easy start kit installed so start up is a breeze. The only problem is i broke the front knuckle on the first jump I attempted. Surprisingly most of the parts on this truck are plastic. I would expect something so expensive to be metal and heavy duty. But then again that would add to the weight and ultimately slow down the truck. I replaced the knuckles with aluminum ones from my local hobby shop. I feel like the knuckles should at least come aluminum from the factory. Also keep in mind this is a truck and not a sports car. On the street its very prone to flipping over on turns. On dirt or grass though is a whole other story. It’s ridiculous how well it handles. You will love this truck. The price here on Amazon is pretty high. I purchased a brand new one from my local hobby shop for $290 + Tax. Just something to keep in mind.

Truely awesome…within 2 minutes of getting it out of the box it was running…and studpily fast compared to similar priced Tamiyas I have had.
The more I have used and understood this car the more I am impressed with it (I read the manuals after using it 5 times). It has race, training and off-road modes. It has a clutch to reduce tie spin.
I bought 2 x 4300 mAH Nickel hydride batteries from Ebay for 56 USD including charger. These last about 30-40 minutes each!!!
What I love about this car:
-Cornering, acceleration and general handling were awesome.
-It’s ready made yet can be rebuilt
-Quality of components compared to other similar priced models
-Availability of parts
-Design- It’s simple, yet functional
Dislikes
- It has a steering wheel type radio unit- perhaps I am getting old. I prefer the lever radio units.
- Through my own stupidity I drive it too fast and keep hitting objects like sidewalks. The result is it rips apart the servo saver used in the steering. It takes 2 minutes to replace but in 40 runs I have now replaced this 3 USD piece 4 times. Durability could be improved here.
Bottom line- you’ll love this car if you want an off-roader.
